Multimedia Presentation Help

System Requirements

Some of the resources on this web site are presented in a multimedia format. There are a number of different version of this format, which are:

Most of the presentations will play on a basic computer setup but the recommended setup is as follows:

Pentium or equivalent class computer or higher,
Sound Card and speaker/headphones,
Minimum of 800 x 600 Screen resolution.
Any operating system with standard Java support such as Windows, Linux, Solaris,
and MAC OS,
Any Java enabled browser, such as Internet Explorer 4+, Netscape Navigator 4+,
Mozilla, and Opera 4+

You will find that most presentations will run at 56K internet connection speed but in video and synchronised PowerPoint presentations, you may find that you need to run in still mode. The best video and audio quality is achieved at broadband and LAN speeds, which is equivalent to 1Mb per second.

Some presentations offer a choice between 800x600 and 1024x768 resolutions. Please select the one most appropriate to your display. The 1024x768 resolution and LAN speed setting will provide the best video and slide quality.

Problems you Might Encounter

Java not installed on your machine

The presentations use JAVA technology. This technology has the advantage of being platform independent.

Some browser/operating systems do not come with JAVA pre installed. If this is the case on your machine, JAVA can be downloaded and installed from the SUN JAVA web site. Just click on the download button on this site and follow the instructions.

When an Impatica presentation is started the loading screen displays but the presentation doesn't start.

Often the first time you access a presentation this may occur. This is due to the machine needing to access the JAVA applet on the server and since it is the first time you have accessed it, it will not be cached on you computer. This means that the applet will take longer to start. However it should eventually start.

Some times JAVA can freeze. Try restarting your browser and if that fails, restart your machine.

Sometimes server traffic or error might occur. In this case try the link again.

Video doesn't run correctly.

Try selecting a slower speed. Still provides audio only which should work at 56Kbps modem speeds.

If no errors occur and the presentations runs you can view the tutorial, which will explain how to operate the presentation.
